The recent decision by the State Department to blacklist Cuba as a “not fully cooperating country” on counterterrorism efforts is a welcome move back toward sanity. Let’s be real—Cuba has been a thorn in America’s side, and their refusal to hand over fugitives facing terrorism charges is a slap in the face to the United States. When a nation harbors criminals rather than bringing them to justice, it’s time to cut off the flow of weapons their way.
Shockingly, it wasn’t too long ago when the Biden administration, eyes wide shut, decided Cuba was no longer a state sponsor of terrorism. It’s baffling! This is the same country that has shown time and again its willingness to provide a safe haven for those fleeing justice. But instead of giving Havana the boot, liberal leadership practically rolled out the red carpet.
Let’s not forget, the blame can be traced back to reckless policy reversals. Almost immediately after taking office, Biden backtracked on the solid groundwork laid by Trump, who rightly classified Cuba for what it is: a bad actor on the world stage. But the left has always been soft on issues that require a firm hand, like standing up to regimes that mock international norms.

And let’s talk hypocrisy. Some liberal elites preach accountability when it suits their narrative but turn a blind eye when it involves standing up to socialist regimes. Their globalist agenda often forgets who the real enemies are, distracting from the job of protecting our nation and our citizens.
The world is not a friendlier place because we refuse to hold these nations accountable. The U.S., under weak liberal leadership, has let promises replace actions for too long. When Cuba cozies up to criminals, it should face consequences. Just how much longer will liberal foreign policies continue their dangerous games before they wake up to reality?
