Washington, D.C. is a mess. Crime is through the roof, and the city’s socialist leadership refuses to get a handle on it. It’s about time someone with real authority stepped in and took control. President Trump is right on the money—if the federal government wrests away control from D.C.’s incompetent leftist rulers, neighborhoods would be safer, and order would be restored. Let’s face it, the District has proven it can’t govern itself without descending into chaos and lawlessness.
For years, the so-called “Home Rule” has handed D.C. over to radical Democrats who prioritize woke politics over public safety. This has turned the capital into a playground for criminals and a warning sign for every American city falling under progressive rule. The idea that a socialist like Muriel Bowser runs the city while crime rates rank D.C. near the bottom of America’s safest places is utterly predictable. When you empower leftists to run everything, you get skyrocketing violence and broken neighborhoods.
BREAKING: Trump considers a Federal take over of governance of Washington DC: “We have tremendous power at The White House to run places when we have to. We could run DC. We're looking at DC … we would run it so good… we're thinking about doing it, to be honest with you” pic.twitter.com/LPxCPTurLp

Senator Mike Lee and Representative Andy Ogles are pushing legislation to scrap D.C.’s disastrous home rule and put Congress back in charge. This isn’t just constitutional; it’s necessary. The Founding Fathers intended for the federal government to have oversight over the capital, not let it sink into an urban nightmare under unaccountable local leaders. When Washington, D.C.’s own government refuses to act, the only option is for the federal government to step in, enforce law and order, and make the city safe again.
President Trump’s vision isn’t some pie-in-the-sky fantasy. It’s a commonsense plan backed by facts. Crime in D.C. remains dangerously high despite minor year-to-date decreases in burglary. Vehicle thefts are even climbing. Meanwhile, the city ranks 172 out of 182 for safety among U.S. cities. That’s a damning failure. Only a strong, decisive federal hand can fix this disaster by installing leadership focused on protecting citizens, not pandering to radical left agendas or globalist influence in this nation’s capital.
If liberals had any shame, they’d step aside and let responsible governance prevail. But they never will. That’s why Trump’s bold proposal is exactly what America needs—a return of control from socialist rule to America-first leadership. It’s time to stop coddling criminals and start protecting Americans. If the federal government can’t enforce order in the capital, how can it protect the country? The question isn’t if the feds should take charge of D.C.—it’s why they haven’t done it yet.
