U.S. Rep. Katie Porter, a vocal Democrat from California, let out a gleeful prediction about former President Donald Trump’s future demise during an interview on the heavily liberal Podcast, Pod Save America. Porter, along with the Obama Administration veterans hosting, chatted about her recent Senate campaign in the Golden State and the Democratic Party’s direction. However, Porter veered off course into anti-Trump land, claiming that Democrats should not base all their decisions on the former President.

Displaying visible excitement, Porter went on to make bold predictions about Trump’s fate, hinting that he will either lose, end up in prison, or even suffer a heart attack. With a chuckle, she suggested Trump’s “demise” might be in the form of a heart attack, humorously referred to as a “hamburger from heaven.” This kind of language from Porter and her cohorts only adds to the divisive rhetoric plaguing the political landscape, as they joyfully anticipate the downfall of their political opponents.
Despite her eagerness to discuss Trump, Porter tried to steer the conversation towards more policy-centered topics, such as the economy, society, and climate change. It’s no surprise that Porter’s Senate campaign was unsuccessful, losing to U.S. Rep. Adam Schiff and Republican candidate Steve Garvey. While Schiff and Garvey are gearing up for a runoff election in the liberal stronghold of California, Porter’s claims of a “rigged” race reek of sour grapes and show her inability to accept defeat gracefully.
Porter’s habit of dismissing Trump and his supporters as “election deniers” only further showcases the Democrats’ refusal to engage in constructive dialogue and accept differing viewpoints. Instead of focusing on unifying the country, Porter chooses to revel in divisive rhetoric and baseless speculation about the future of her political adversaries. It’s time for politicians like Porter to set aside their personal vendettas and work towards finding common ground for the betterment of all Americans.
