The 18-count indictment reveals a shocking three-year fraud scheme that shows just how low Democrat politicians will go. Cantrell and former police officer Jeffrey Vappie used encrypted messages to hide their intimate relationship while he collected paychecks for fake work. They thought they were smarter than federal investigators.
This is exactly what happens when Democrats get power and think the rules don’t apply to them. While New Orleans families struggle to pay bills and deal with rising crime, their mayor was living it up on secret romantic getaways paid for by taxpayers. She even took this guy on 14 different trips while he pretended to be working.
The corruption runs even deeper than anyone imagined. When a private citizen took photos of the mayor and her boyfriend drinking together while he was supposed to be on duty, Cantrell filed a police report against that person. She actually tried to use law enforcement to cover up her own crimes.

Cantrell is New Orleans’ first female mayor in 300 years, and this is her legacy – corruption, lies, and stealing from taxpayers. She’s term-limited and will be gone in January anyway, but the damage to the city’s reputation is already done. This is what Democrat leadership looks like in action.
The people of New Orleans deserve so much better than this corrupt administration. While Cantrell was playing games with her boyfriend on the taxpayer dime, violent crime was destroying neighborhoods and driving good families away.
