Former Homeland Security Chief Chad Wolf called out Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson this week. He said they care more about politics than protecting their own people. Wolf blasted the Democrat leaders for saying no to federal help while crime tears apart their city.
The numbers tell a scary story about what is happening in Chicago right now. Non-residential burglary jumped by 50 percent in early 2025 compared to last year. Chicago has led the nation in murders for 13 straight years and has the highest murder rate among big cities for seven years running.
Chicago’s murder rate is three times higher than Los Angeles and five times higher than New York City. The city recovers more illegal guns than New York and Los Angeles put together. Motor vehicle thefts more than doubled since 2021, and police only arrest suspects in 16 percent of all reported crimes.
Instead of thanking President Trump for offering help, these Democrat politicians got mad about it. Pritzker and Johnson would rather play politics than save lives in their own neighborhoods. They act like everything is fine while families live in fear every single day.
These liberal leaders refuse to admit their soft-on-crime policies have failed completely. They spent years attacking police and cutting law enforcement budgets. Now when Trump offers real solutions, they turn their backs on the people who elected them.
Hard-working Chicago families deserve better than this political game-playing. Parents should not have to worry about their kids walking to school or playing outside. Small business owners should not have to board up their windows and hire armed guards.
President Trump proved in Washington DC that tough law enforcement works. He brought crime down with smart policies and strong leadership. Now he wants to help other cities, but Democrat mayors care more about their pride than public safety.
Chicago voters need to remember this when election time comes around. Their leaders chose politics over protection and left them to face the violence alone. It is time for new leadership that puts American families first.
