The Democrats are at it again, throwing their usual tantrum because the grown-ups in the room decided to take charge. This time, it’s about the Senate finally putting an end to the Dems’ endless obstruction. Their cries of “norms” and “chaos” are nothing but noise. Republicans are bringing common sense back by closing a loophole that’s been abused for years, enabling President Trump’s stellar judicial nominees to be automatically delayed indefinitely just because the Democrats can’t accept the result of elections. It’s about time that changes.
The uproar from the left over the GOP lowering the vote requirement from 60 to a simple majority is laughable. They fear losing their grip on power more than actually caring about procedure. The Democrats, who once gleefully tore up rule books to seat their own picks, now whine about fairness. They suddenly found their voice for “principled obstruction” only when it suited their agenda. Hypocritical is an understatement. Their concern isn’t about following rules but about throwing a fit because they didn’t get their way.
