Democrats Struggle to Face Reality After Election Debacle

Democrats are having a hard time facing the music after their electoral disaster last November. Rejection is never a pleasant pill to swallow, but the signs of their struggle have become increasingly comedic, resembling a farcical play rather than a serious assessment of political missteps. Instead of doing some soul-searching, the left seems preoccupied with blaming the mirror for reflecting their grim reality.

Historically, the Democratic Party would’ve been up at dawn, burning the midnight oil, strategizing for the next round after losing an election. The days of proactive planning seem long gone, replaced by confusion and finger-pointing that would make even the most clueless person roll their eyes. Their glorious leader, the one they deify and pray to, Barack Obama, is silently at the center of their woes. The identity politics invested by the Democrats under his reign have left them devoid of any real political machinery, but good luck getting them to own up to that.

In their rush to elevate “diversity” over competence, the Democratic Party all but destroyed their pool of candidates. Gone are the days when a strong bench of potential leaders would make a comeback feasible. Their blind worship of Obama has effectively left them with a bunch of nominees who have all the political experience of a wet sponge. Their last bout was a desperate plea for nostalgia, choosing Joe Biden—an elderly throwback to yesteryear—who merely acted as a comforting relic of the past. Unfortunately for them, nostalgia isn’t quite the winning strategy they might have fancied it to be.

The Democrats’ platform took a dive into the deep end of absurdity, leading to a caricature of political ideology that includes advocating for biological males to compete in women’s sports and promoting drag queen story hours for kids. Not exactly the golden ticket to garnering the average voter’s support. Despite the reality slap they received last election, they haven’t corrected course, instead doubling down on madness that would send J.R.R. Tolkien running for the hills. The moral of this story? American voters don’t appreciate the sight of men in women’s sports, and they’ll make their views known come voting day.

Recent articles, even those from the left-leaning enclave of The New York Times, have brushed ever so close to the truth. Writers like Michelle Cottle and former Obama speechwriter Ben Rhodes have grazed the surface of the Democrats’ issues but quickly sidestep any meaningful conclusions. Instead, they cling to the notion that the solution lies in tweaking their rhetoric to appeal to the common folk, as if simply rewording their bizarre policies will magically make them palatable.

The Democrats’ real dilemma is their inability to break free from their anti-Trump obsession. While they remain convinced that opposing Orange Man Bad is their golden ticket, it turns out that “normal people” are not onboard with their crazed vendetta. Rhetoric aimed at demonizing Trump won’t translate to votes if the policies seem distasteful. Despite the current political landscape being dominated by their frustrations, the consistent voting unwillingness to accept ludicrous ideologies suggests the need for a serious reevaluation of their core messages. Until they recognize that, they might as well be attempting to sell sand in the desert.
