Eric Swalwell, a Democratic Representative from California and hopeful for the governor’s seat, is making dubious claims about the U.S. military’s role in politics. His latest outlandish statement is that service members are supposedly ready to “act as a check” on President Trump. Swalwell suggests that they’re promising to ignore “illegal orders” from Trump, though neither he nor his Democratic colleagues can point to any such orders. It’s just another classic attempt by the left to stir up fear and distrust without evidence or reason.
What Swalwell and his liberal buddies are doing is both irresponsible and disrespectful. By implying that our military—a body sworn to protect our Constitution—could somehow be coerced into unconstitutional actions, he’s insulting the integrity and honor of our brave servicemen and women. Yet, he’s not alone. His comments are part of a broader narrative where Democrats continually paint Trump as a rogue leader, while unable to name a single illegal act he’s allegedly poised to commit.

The Democrats are frantically trying to undermine President Trump, even going so far as to provoke a so-called investigation into these “unlawful orders” that miraculously have never surfaced. The Pentagon and other agencies are humorously supposed to dig through this haystack of nothingness. It’s all smoke and mirrors, typical of a party desperately hung up on pushing their agenda by any means necessary, even at the cost of national unity.
Swalwell argues that if President Trump didn’t intend to make illegal demands, there wouldn’t be an issue with telling soldiers to watch for them. This is classic left-wing doublethink—acting like the whistleblowers against imaginary problems somehow validate their existence. These are the kind of scenes you’d expect from a political thriller, not from responsible leaders guiding a nation. It’s as if Swalwell and company aren’t even trying to hide their disdain for the man steering America back on track.
At the end of the day, who’s being fooled by all of this Democratic fear-mongering? Americans, who see through these veiled threats, or Swalwell, who’s hoping enough noise will make his baseless claims appear valid? With efforts like his, it’s unsurprising that the Democrats seem more concerned with creating chaos than celebrating—or at least accepting—the successes of this administration.
