America’s immigration enforcers are under siege not just from violent mobs but from a coordinated narrative from Democrats and much of the legacy media that has spent months portraying ICE agents as villains instead of public servants enforcing the law. Greg Kelly rightly raised the alarm on his show about how this demonization has consequences, and hardworking Americans who want secure borders should be demanding better from our political class and press. The smear campaign is no accident; it’s part of a political strategy that puts ideology ahead of safety.
Federal officials have warned of a dramatic spike in assaults and threats against ICE officers as rhetoric from elected Democrats and activist groups has intensified, with the Department of Homeland Security and agency spokespeople explicitly tying the rise in violence to that public vilification. Those are not abstract talking points — DHS leaders have said agents are facing alarming increases in assaults and doxxing that put their families at risk. American citizens who value law and order should be outraged that rhetoric translates into real danger for the men and women who protect our communities.
Across the country we’ve watched once-peaceful protests escalate into riots targeting ICE facilities, with footage of cars torched, tires slashed and officers besieged while too many local leaders either look the other way or join the chorus condemning enforcement. The scenes in Los Angeles and other cities proved the point: when political elites and the media excuse or amplify anti-enforcement agitation, it emboldens the worst elements in the crowd. This isn’t about compassion — it’s about chaos enabled by cowardly politicians who would rather score points than restore order.
What happened in Broadview, Illinois, where protesters clashed with federal agents and a congressional candidate was reportedly thrown to the ground, shows the situation has spun out of control in some places and required federal response. DHS publicly criticized local officials for “villainizing and demonizing ICE law enforcement” after that clash, a reminder that politicized posturing has operational consequences for officers trying to do their jobs. We cannot pretend these incidents are isolated when they come amid a nationwide surge in anti-law-enforcement violence.
Meanwhile, some Democrats are even pushing laws to strip ICE agents of basic protections — like the option to wear masks during dangerous operations — while simultaneously abetting mobs that threaten and stalk agents at home. Federal agents say masks protect them from doxxing and targeted retaliation by transnational gangs and extremist actors, yet political theater is being used to make them more vulnerable on the street. If we allow politicians to legislate agents into danger to score headlines, we will have only ourselves to blame for the blood on the pavement.
There have already been shootings and real attacks tied to anti-ICE rage, including incidents near detention facilities that left officers and bystanders wounded, underscoring the urgent need to back law enforcement instead of demonizing it. The pattern is unmistakable: when the left and its media allies trash the badge, they lower the threshold for violence and invite retaliation against people just trying to keep Americans safe. Prosecutors and chiefs who fail to take those threats seriously are abandoning their duty to protect victims and uphold the rule of law.
Patriots must stand with the men and women who enforce our laws and secure our borders, not with the politicians and pundits who trade in reckless rhetoric for power. Call your representatives, demand protective resources for federal officers, and refuse to let our institutions be hollowed out by political theater. The safety of our neighborhoods and the sanctity of lawful enforcement are worth fighting for, and conservatives will not be silent while the left cheers on the chaos.
