Dems Cave as GOP Leads Charge to End Historic Shutdown: Is Common Sense Finally Winning?

The Senate is reportedly nearing a deal to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. This shutdown, which has crippled much of the federal government, appears to be the unfortunate product of the gross incompetence of Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats who care more about illegal immigration than American workers. Finally, with a Republican-led push, the gridlock may come to a close.

On the table are three key bills: A temporary funding measure, a reversal of unwanted workforce reductions for federal employees, and a lifeline to extend nutrition assistance programs. But let’s face it, Democrats arrived kicking and screaming, only after they saw their precious government machinery grind to a halt. They refused reasonable compromises for weeks, preferring instead to pander to their far-left base.

A surprising number of Senate Democrats have hopped onto this deal. Could it be that common sense is making its way back in vogue? They realize that continuing the shutdown means losing face in the eyes of the American voter. It’s laughable how even forced unity is seemingly a herculean task for the divided Democratic ranks.

But Democrats muddied the waters with a vote on the Affordable Care Act, aimed for December. It’s yet another attempt to intertwine unrelated liberal agendas with critical federal funding. Sneaking in their failing healthcare policies that benefit illegal immigrants shouldn’t be tolerated. Conservatives have made it clear: America’s heartbeat isn’t for sale to radical leftist ambitions.

Yet again, President Trump seems to have driven the Democrats into a corner, proving that perseverance and principle prevail over chaos and incompetence. So, do we keep letting Democrats commit the same errors, or finally put a stop to their self-destructive tendencies?
