Dems in Disarray as Biden Strategy Crumbles, Polls Show Waning Support

Looks like the Democrats are getting a bit worried. The Democratic National Committee members are reportedly annoyed with President Biden’s campaign for pretending all is well with Biden’s health while his team is out there labeling the skittish members of their own party as “bedwetters.” Another major newspaper has hopped on the bandwagon, asking the beleaguered President to step aside for the 2024 election.

The Biden loyalists scrambled over the weekend desperately to patch up the President’s crumbling campaign, trying to project a united front. Meanwhile, Biden himself was nowhere to be seen, hiding out at Camp David while his surrogates made the rounds on Sunday talk shows. And let’s be honest, everyone knows the real story: Biden and his clan were holed up discussing salvage strategies for a hopeless campaign. Of course, White House officials quickly dismiss any such rumors as inaccurate.

The first poll post-debate spelled doom for ol’ Joe and his party. CBS News/YouGov poll results were downright brutal: 72% of voters don’t think Biden has the mental chops to handle the presidency, a sharp uptick from 65% just two weeks ago. Even scarier for the Dems, 41% of their own voters are now questioning Biden’s cognitive abilities.

Despite the clearly wobbling ship, Democratic National Committee Chairman Jaime Harrison and Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez held a call with influential party members, who boldly claimed that Biden could lead another term. Yet frustration boiled over when Harrison and Rodriguez declined to take any questions, leaving many feeling like they were being gaslit — a term that’s gotten quite the workout lately in Democratic circles.

Adding fuel to the fire, Deputy campaign manager Rob Flaherty accused his Democratic critics of “bedwetting” in a fundraising email. According to him, calls for Biden to drop out are a recipe for chaos that’s bound to hand Trump the win. He waved around a Data for Progress poll to support his claims, suggesting Biden still polls better against Trump than any other Democratic hopefuls such as Harris, Buttigieg, or Newsom.

But even in Flaherty’s preferred poll, Trump comes out on top. Election statistician Nate Silver wasn’t impressed, noting that being on par with less-known candidates isn’t the win the Biden camp thinks it is. His criticism was pretty straightforward: if this is their best angle, they’re in even bigger trouble than they realize.

Meanwhile, Biden spent Sunday pampering wealthy donors at a high-end New Jersey shindig hosted by Governor Phil Murphy, trying to convince everyone that his botched debate performance was a win for undecided voters. His claim? Trump’s actions on January 6th are enough to sway people back to him. The event managed to rake in $3.7 million but did little to reassure anyone about Biden’s debate debacle, with fresh polls showing a drop in his support.

All the while, pressure is mounting for Biden to exit stage left. Prominent Dems like former Sen. Tom Harkin have joined the chorus, calling the debate disaster irreparable. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and even The New York Times editorial boards have urged Biden to retire for the nation’s sake. Biden’s camp, however, insists the trip to Camp David was solely for family photos and nothing more.

Long story short, it appears the Democrats are in disarray with infighting and finger-pointing aplenty. Biden’s campaign looks more fragile by the day, and if things continue down this road, the GOP might just have 2024 all sewn up.
