Dems Jayapal & Omar’s Secret Cuban Getaway Riles GOP

The two Democratic Congresswomen, Pramila Jayapal from Washington and Ilhan Omar from Minnesota, are catching flak for their recent trip to Cuba. These left-wing ladies jetted off to the tropical island to cozy up with the Cuban government and chat about human rights, without first letting anyone know they were going.

Their fellow politicians back in Washington aren’t too impressed, especially the ones with Cuban roots. Reps Carlos Gimenez, Mario Diaz-Balart, and Maria Elvira Salazar, all Republicans from Florida, were particularly miffed about being kept in the dark about Jayapal and Omar’s little excursion. They’re not buying the excuse that it was for security reasons.

Omar had the audacity to claim that her chats with Cuban officials were “really productive.” Can you believe it? And Jayapal had the nerve to brush off the criticism, calling it “hyperbolic and meritless.”

Not only did Jayapal and Omar cozy up to the Cuban government, they even voted against a resolution in 2021 supporting peaceful demonstrations against the Cuban government.

One Republican Congresswoman, Nicole Malliotakis, whose mother fled Cuba, made it crystal clear where she stands on the matter, saying that Members of Congress who support the Cuban regime should just stay there!

Jayapal and Omar’s little escapade to Cuba has rubbed some people the wrong way, and for good reason. Maybe next time they should think twice before cozying up to communist regimes and voting against supporting peaceful demonstrations for freedom.
