DePaul Scandal: Jewish Students Attacked, Campus Security Stands By

A violent hate crime shook DePaul University last November when two Jewish students were brutally attacked for supporting Israel. Adam Erkan, 20, faces felony charges for the assault that left Max Long with a brain injury and Michael Kaminsky needing wrist surgery. The attack occurred as Long, an IDF reservist, held a sign inviting campus dialogue about Israel—a clear target for radical anti-Israel agitators.

These young patriots were beaten by masked thugs shouting antisemitic slurs while campus security stood nearby and did nothing. Surveillance footage shows Erkan fleeing in his father’s car after the cowardly ambush. Despite overwhelming evidence, DePaul administrators canceled private security contracts days before the attack, leaving Jewish students vulnerable.

Long and Kaminsky now sue DePaul for failing to protect them despite prior threats. The university’s empty promises of “solidarity” ring hollow as Jewish students face harassment and “wanted” posters labeling Long an “IDF butcher.” This is the rotten fruit of campuses that coddle Hamas sympathizers while abandoning Jewish Americans.

Antisemitism has exploded on college grounds since Hamas’ October 7 massacre, with far-left activists painting Israel as the villain. Elite schools have become breeding grounds for Jew-hatred, cheered on by radical professors and weak-kneed administrators. President Trump’s administration took bold action against these institutions—freezing funds and deporting hate-filled foreign students.

Erkan’s arrest offers little comfort as the second attacker remains free. Chicago’s soft-on-crime policies and DePaul’s negligence created this crisis. While woke universities pour resources into “diversity” bureaucracies, Jewish students get空洞 gestures instead of real protection.

The attack’s aftermath exposed DePaul’s double standard. When conservatives voice concerns, they’re silenced as “bigots”—but pro-Hamas groups roam campuses freely. Kaminsky rightly calls this a “war on college campuses,” where Jewish identity is criminalized while antisemites play victim.

Real leadership means expelling groups like Behind Enemy Lines, which spreads anti-Israel poison. Instead, DePaul bans such groups only after lawsuits and public shaming. Conservative lawmakers must defund schools that enable this violence and restore order through strict campus speech codes.

Long and Kaminsky embody true courage, refusing to back down despite their injuries. “I felt safer in Gaza than on my own campus,” Long declared—a damning indictment of America’s education system. These young men remind us that fighting for truth often comes at a price, but surrender to mob rule isn’t an option.
