Alan Dershowitz bluntly told Greta Van Susteren on Newsmax that the way Jeffrey Epstein-related accusations are being handled smells of modern-day McCarthyism, warning that the rush to publish names without full context will ruin reputations and erode due process. He urged that the full files be released without redactions so accused Americans can defend themselves and the public can see the whole record.
Dershowitz has repeatedly stressed that many of the documents are under court seal or redaction and that the public has seen only fragments, which creates a one-sided narrative that prosecutors, judges, or the media may weaponize. He told Van Susteren he has “seen the names” and that lists exist, but cautioned that a bare list of names is a nothing-burger without the underlying evidence and ability to confront accusers.
Conservative Americans should be alarmed that the same media and partisan institutions that spent years smearing political opponents are now treating Epstein as an unquestioned oracle, elevating leaked allegations into headlines before the facts are unsealed. Dershowitz called out the anti-Trump media for embracing Epstein’s claims uncritically, a dangerous double standard that rewards political narratives over truth.
Dershowitz’s plea was constitutional and commonsense: accused individuals must be given the information they need to show the accusations are false, and courts—not partisan prosecutors or opportunistic outlets—should determine what is released and when. He argued that redactions that hide who first made an allegation can turn innocent people into public pariahs, and that blanket secrecy shields questionable accusers from scrutiny.
Let’s call this what it is: a politically convenient purge dressed up as transparency. Conservatives have watched for years as career-killing allegations are lobbed in the press and amplified by left-wing institutions without due process, and Dershowitz is right to warn that an Epstein files free-for-all will become a new tool for political destruction. The American principle of innocent until proven guilty must prevail over the social-media lynch mob.
Dershowitz also pointed to Ghislaine Maxwell as the key witness who can separate truth from fiction, calling her the “Rosetta Stone” who might provide testimony and records that clarify who was actually present and what happened. If Maxwell’s cooperation produces real evidence rather than rumor, it should settle many questions and end the partisan feeding frenzy.
Patriots who love liberty should demand that judges do their jobs and unseal what the law allows, while insisting the media stop using partial leaks as political weapons. If Republicans and conservatives don’t push back and insist on full, fair disclosure with due process, the country will watch reputations and careers be shredded in the name of spectacle—and that’s a loss we cannot afford.
