Former Democratic State Attorney Andrew Warren has unexpectedly decided not to run for reelection after being suspended by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2022. To preserve the law, Governor DeSantis quickly suspended Warren for refusing to enforce abortion and other state laws.
Governor DeSantis suspended Warren, a 13th Judicial Circuit prosecutor since 2016, in August 2022 for disregarding his duties. Warren's lawsuits against the suspension were rejected by a federal judge and the Florida Supreme Court, demonstrating that justice trumped liberal complaints.

Warren tweeted on X, "DeSantis damaged our democracy, and it's too fragile and crucial to allow him do it again. I'll take one for the team and not run for re-election while fighting the court-ruled illegal suspension to serve my term for the community that elected me." Governor DeSantis and others dispute this story.
Governor DeSantis' Republican replacement for Warren, Susan Lopez, has performed well. Lopez, who is seeking a full term in 2024, has committed to prioritize crime victims and their families, unlike Warren, who is seen as lawless. Lopez said Monday, "As your State Attorney, I prioritize Hillsborough safety. I will defend crime victims and their families. Hillsborough County residents deserve a law-abiding State Attorney. I have been and will be that kind of State Attorney "highlighting her dedication to law and order.
In conclusion, Andrew Warren's departure is seen as a success for legal system integrity and ideals. Hillsborough County residents can anticipate justice and the rule of law under Susan Lopez. The resignation of Warren is a wonderful step, and Governor DeSantis received praise for his moral stand.
