The Walt Disney Company has been on a losing streak, with box office analyst Valliant Renegade revealing that the company incurred losses of nearly $1 billion on their last eight “woke” movie releases. Such numbers are a clear sign of public backlash against Disney’s “LGBTQ indoctrination” campaigns. The eight “woke” movies include “Strange World” and “Lightyear”, which lost $197 million and $106 million, respectively. The other films: “Thor: Love and Thunder,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” and two “The Little Mermaid” movies, cost $2.75 billion yet only returned $1.86 billion, leaving the company with a staggering loss of $890 million.

Unfortunately, recent Disney films have been featuring “woke” storylines, resulting in quite a backlash from the audience. “Strange World” had a gay romance, “Lightyear” had a lesbian kiss, and “Elemental” talks about xenophobia and introduces Disney’s first ever non-binary character. Such blatant politics in movies only serve to cause harm, leading to losses for the company.
Apart from box office results, Valliant Renegade suggests that Disney has suffered economic opportunity costs by pulling away from third-party contracts like Netflix to support Disney+. By choosing to “keep it all home,” Disney missed out on a lot of money, which they could have easily made had they licensed their contents to other major streamers.
Lately, there has been a leadership shakeup in Disney, with Chief Diversity Officer and SVP, Latondra Newton, quitting following devastating box office bombs from recent “woke” films. Newton’s leaving the company at this critical time is a further indication of the downward spiral of this company.
Disney’s current “woke” movement is clearly not being received well, and the company should take notes from this massive public disapproval. They must go back to their roots and focus on producing family-friendly shows and movies like the ones that, thankfully, made them a household name.
