DOJ Drops Biden’s Lawsuit Against Georgia Law in Win for Election Integrity

A recent shake-up at the Department of Justice shows that common sense might not be entirely dead yet. Attorney General Pamela Bondi made the wise decision to kick the Biden administration’s frivolous lawsuit against Georgia’s election law, Senate Bill 202, straight to the curb. This legal dinosaur, which claimed that the legislation discriminated against Black voters, was deemed to have all the validity of a three-legged unicorn.

Bondi argued, quite accurately, that Black voter turnout actually increased after the implementation of SB 202. This reveals the absurdity of the Biden administration’s narrative, which accused Georgia lawmakers of engaging in some kind of modern-day Jim Crow era. The sheer audacity of calling basic election integrity measures like voter ID racially discriminatory is a feat that only the left could muster. After all, insisting on ID for virtually everything in life—from boarding an airplane to buying a beer—suddenly becomes a boogeyman whenever the topic is elections.

The lawsuit’s demise comes on the heels of some corporate head-scratching, notably when Major League Baseball wrenched the All-Star Game from Atlanta over this very law. The move did more harm than good for Georgia, costing the state over $100 million and showing the world just how politicized sports can become when companies fold under the weight of leftist pressure. Meanwhile, Bondi’s DOJ is showing it’s ready to get serious about protecting elections instead of playing political tug-of-war over absurd accusations.

Chad Mizelle from the DOJ made it crystal clear that the department is no longer interested in the sham lawsuits that had characterized the previous leadership. The goal is to actually ensure fair elections rather than chase ghosts of voter suppression that don’t exist. Mizelle’s statement underlines the fact that it takes a special kind of ignorance to label the protection of elections as racist. Who knew election security could trigger such melodrama?

Supporters of SB 202 highlight its straightforward provisions, which require voter ID, streamline absentee ballot processes, and mandate faster election result reporting. Strangely enough, these common-sense measures that promote voting integrity were painted red by critics attempting to whip up racial division instead of engaging in rational discourse about election security. The DOJ’s pivot under Bondi is a clear indication that there is a new sheriff in town—one more interested in real issues than the manufactured crises of the left.

Americans can finally look forward to an administration that prioritizes election integrity over political theater. Under the guidance of Bondi and a renewed DOJ focus, the time for dismantling weaponized litigation and ensuring lawful elections has arrived, marking a welcome turn from the reckless direction led by the previous regime. The future looks promising for those who believe in equal rights for all, particularly when engaging in the most sacred act of democracy: voting.
