This is not a garden-variety political spat — federal prosecutors are weighing whether local leaders who stoked protests and criticized enforcement might have stepped into criminal territory. Conservatives who value the rule of law don’t have to reflexively accept every dodge from Democratic operatives; if Walz believes the allegation is baseless, he can and should cooperate with investigators and clear his name. Demanding transparency and accountability is patriotic, not partisan.
