Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin is at it again, folks! This time, he’s ramping up his attacks on the Supreme Court. And boy, oh boy, does he have a plan. Durbin is planning to subpoena long-time friends and allies of conservative Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito under the sneaky guise of “ethics reform.” But wait, here’s the kicker – he has absolutely no intention of issuing subpoenas to friends or associates of liberal Supreme Court justices. Talk about a double standard!
Durbin and his buddies on the Judiciary Committee are not wasting any time. They plan to vote on authorizing the subpoenas as early as November 9th. And guess what? They don’t even need the support of any Republicans on the committee to do it. Who needs bipartisanship, right? According to The Washington Post, they’re targeting Texas billionaire Harlan Crow and conservative judicial activist Leonard Leo. You see, Leo has played a crucial role in helping solidify the conservative majority on the Supreme Court through his work with the Federalist Society. Clearly, Durbin doesn’t appreciate a little thing called “balance.”
But Leo isn’t taking this liberal witch hunt lying down. In fact, he’s rejecting the probe as unconstitutional and un-American. And I couldn’t agree more. In a statement, Leo made it clear that he won’t bow down to the “vile and disgusting liberal McCarthyism” that seeks to destroy the Supreme Court. Preach, Leo!

And let’s not forget about the hypocrisy of Durbin and his buddies. Leo’s attorney sent a letter to Durbin on October 19th detailing why this inquiry is nothing short of political retaliation. The Committee claims to be interested in events, trips, and private hospitality extended to Justices Thomas and Alito, but conveniently ignores the actions of liberal Justices like Ginsburg, Sotomayor, and Breyer. It’s clear that this entire inquiry is a sham, designed to target conservatives and push a political agenda.
But while Durbin and his cronies are busy playing their partisan games, House Republicans are taking action. They’re investigating the Washington D.C. Attorney General for going after Leo on behalf of leftist activist groups. Finally, someone is holding these radical leftists accountable for their attempts to destroy the Supreme Court.
Folks, it’s clear as day that Durbin’s attacks on the Supreme Court are nothing more than a political operation. He’s using his position to advance his own agenda and secure donations for his reelection campaign. It’s a disgrace and a complete betrayal of the American people. We need lawmakers who will uphold the Constitution, not those who will undermine the judiciary for their own gain. It’s time for conservatives to stand up against these tyrannical tactics and fight for our rights. The future of our Supreme Court depends on it.
