Transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, who identifies as a woman, was honored with the Woman of the Year award at the Virgin Atlantic Attitude Awards in the United Kingdom. This event is like a big party for an LGBT magazine, where they give out awards and celebrate all things LGBTQ. In accepting the award, Mulvaney made sure to let everyone know that it had been a whopping 560 days since they started transitioning. They said that even though some people don’t see them as a woman, they’re still going to keep doing them and the queer community will have their back.
Now, this isn’t the first award Mulvaney has won. Just a few months ago, they snagged the Breakout Creator of 2023 at the Streamy Awards, which is all about online content. But the real controversy came when Mulvaney announced a partnership with Bud Light to celebrate their one-year anniversary of being a trans woman. Conservatives were not happy about it and actually called for a boycott of the drink. And it seems like the boycott had an impact because Anheuser-Busch, the company that owns Bud Light, lost almost $400 million in revenue in August.
Now, here’s where things get interesting. Mulvaney criticized Bud Light for not reaching out when conservatives got all up in arms about the partnership. They said they were scared to leave their own house! But despite the criticism, Mulvaney had a bold idea for Bud Light. They suggested creating an ad with a trans woman and a cowboy having a beer at a bar, with the catchy tagline “There’s room for all of us beer drinkers in this town.” Well, I’m sorry, but that just sounds like some ridiculous liberal nonsense to me. Why can’t we just enjoy a cold beer without all this gender stuff being shoved in our faces?
