FBI’s Secret Subpoenas Targeted Trump Allies: Outrage Erupts

The bombshell revelation that the FBI secretly subpoenaed the phone toll records of Kash Patel and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles during 2022–2023 is the latest proof our justice system was used as a political cudgel against Trump allies. Patel told Reuters the seizures happened while Special Counsel Jack Smith was running his probe, and he called the actions “outrageous and deeply alarming.”

These were not content intercepts but toll records showing when calls happened and to whom — the kind of metadata investigators can get without a judge, which makes the secrecy even more troubling. Patel says the records were buried in FBI files labeled “Prohibited,” a classification he has since abolished to prevent further cover-ups by career officials.

Even more chilling: reporting indicates the FBI recorded a 2023 call between Wiles and her attorney where the lawyer reportedly consented but Wiles was not informed, leaving her “in shock” when the file surfaced. This is not routine oversight; it smells like stealth targeting of political adversaries and a contempt for basic legal and ethical norms.

Senator Ron Johnson — who has long warned about weaponized federal probes into Republicans — rightly ripped into the “radical left” and demanded answers, echoing the outrage of millions of Americans who watched the swamp use secrecy to pick off opponents. Conservative lawmakers must turn that anger into action and force full transparency about who authorized these subpoenas and why.

If the bureau under Biden leadership indeed tucked sensitive records away so they could evade discovery, then the recent firings of dozens of implicated employees are only the beginning of what must be a complete housecleaning. Director Patel’s moves to cut off the “Prohibited” designation and to hold people accountable should be applauded, but Congress must conduct uncompromised hearings to expose the full scope of this political surveillance.

Hardworking Americans deserve a justice system that protects the rule of law, not one that clandestinely catalogs opponents and buries evidence to avoid scrutiny. It’s time for Republicans in power to stop posturing and start legislating reforms that restore civil liberties, rein in rogue investigators, and ensure this kind of lawless behavior never happens again. The country is watching — and patriots will not allow another partisan deep-state runaround to stand.
