In a shocking turn of events, Fox News fired Tucker Carlson, their top-rated host in April. The speculation surrounding his abrupt termination has been rampant. Many have pondered over whether it was due to his lack of criticism towards January 6 protesters or his planned monologue about Ray Epps. However, it seems that independent journalist Emerald Robinson has unearthed the real reason in an exclusive post on her Substack. According to Robinson, Tucker’s proposed monologue might have been the last straw for Fox News. The monologue was supposed to be about the corrupt Department of Justice and Ray Epps.
Tucker starts by condemning the censorship culture of politicians, especially Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and former Press Secretary Jen Psaki. Both have been calling for Tucker’s cancellation repeatedly. Tucker argues that Americans have the right to critique their political leaders and remember that politicians serve the people, not the other way around. But, instead of defending America’s foundational principle, journalists like Psaki remain silent when Ocasio-Cortes calls for law enforcement to shut down news programming.
However, it is the section about Ray Epps that Tucker believes led to his firing. Epps was caught on tape encouraging protestors to breach the Capitol building on January 6, but he has neither been arrested nor charged with inciting violence. Tucker asks where Ocasio-Cortes stands on the issue of Ray Epps, and wonders why he has not yet been charged. Tucker suggests that Ray Epps is being protected by the “neoliberal Democrats,” who are defending him ferociously even though he is the only person caught on video encouraging the breach of the Capitol. Tucker’s monologue might have been too hot to handle for Fox News, causing them to rescind his job offer.
