The House Freedom Caucus, known for being as selective as a cat in a tuna factory, has reportedly given the boot to one of its own, just in time for him to bid adieu to Congress. Rep. Ken Buck of Colorado found himself on the outs with this conservative clique, as they voted to give him the old heave-ho on Tuesday night. It seems that Buck hasn’t been keeping his dance card full with caucus meetings, which left him in the doghouse with the group.

Buck confirmed his expulsion, stating he got the news via a not-so-friendly text from caucus higher-ups. His office, however, was more tight-lipped than a clam at low tide, refusing to confirm his removal. The timing of this political purge is about as surprising as finding a mosquito in a swamp. With Buck set to shuffle off the congressional stage on March 22, it looks like the Caucus is just tidying up the joint before his departure.
Of course, Buck didn’t go down without a fight, claiming that the whole House of Representatives has turned into a hot mess of bickering and nonsense. While some say his early retirement played a part in the Freedom Caucus’s decision, others argue that he just wasn’t singing from the same hymn sheet on key conservative issues. Whatever the case, it’s clear that the caucus didn’t want Buck raining on their parade any longer.
