In the comic books, Silver Surfer’s alter ego is Norrin Radd, a humanoid alien from the planet Zenn-La. He made a deal with the planet-devouring creature Galactus to save his home and his beloved Shalla-Bal, and in return, he became Galactus’s “herald” with the power to find new planets for the creature to devour. This deal also gifted him with his signature powers and silver appearance.
