This is not courage; it’s political theater: talk like a centrist when it’s convenient, govern like a left-wing elitist when no one’s watching.
Don’t forget the old scandals that exposed the same pattern: preach strict rules to Californians, then live by a very different set of rules in Napa Valley’s French Laundry. Ordinary Californians paid the price with lockdowns and school disruptions while Newsom showed up at a lavish private dinner and later had to apologize for being caught breaking his own guidance.
He’s also taken to social media with the same two-faced routine, trolling opponents in a tone that edges into menace — a post aimed at a rival that alarmed people enough to trigger a Secret Service threat assessment. This is not leadership; it’s performative outrage designed to distract from skyrocketing homelessness, rising crime, and failing schools.
Californians know what this show really costs them: higher bills, shuttered businesses, and neighborhoods where law-abiding families feel less safe. Newsom’s pivoting and posturing won’t fix the reality on the ground, because the policies he defends reward special interests and punish the middle class who keep this state running.
It’s time for voters to stop being fooled by the double talk.
