God vs. Communism: Fight for America’s Soul Heats Up

In the vibrant theatre of American politics, it’s clear that some people see the world in black and white—with a dash of heavenly intervention. One commentator recently made quite the splash with an electrifying take: the notion that Donald Trump is essentially Heaven’s chosen leader. Picture this, dear reader: the heavenly choir, somewhere up in the clouds, nodding in approval as Trump wields a metaphorical sword. According to Romans 13, after all, God himself appoints government authorities. Why, one might wonder, would God choose anyone else when there’s a sword to brandish and battles against evil to fight?

This line of thinking is caught up in a whirlwind of concern over what was rather dramatically termed “assassination culture” on the left. Now, whether one applauds or boos from the bleachers at the mention of Trump, it’s pointed out that believing in the value of life is what sets Christians apart in this tale. Contrastingly, those spooky “communists” and their lack of a divine compass supposedly lead them down a path where power justifies grim deeds. Thus, we are told, it lands us in a dystopia where prominent figures could, allegedly, speak of harming political adversaries’ children—a bit melodramatic, perhaps, but it does highlight some deep-seated fears.

In this narrative, new political faces were painted with broad, alarming strokes resembling famous tyrants of yore—Stalin and Mao, no less. It appears the new mayor of New York City is, in dramatic flourish, likened to these infamous leaders. It’s a chilling prospect, were it not served with a generous dash of hyperbole. With a click of a remote or scroll of a screen, citizens are entreated to imagine their local government office host to secretive huddles of modern-day Bolsheviks. Can you picture it?

The tale takes an unexpected swerve towards history, trumpeting the Republican Party and Christian kingdoms as drivers of liberation throughout the ages. While some Christian individuals and groups have contributed to abolition efforts, the historical relationship between Christianity and slavery is complex, involving both support and opposition at different times. While the left is portrayed as brooding over injustices of the past, this commentary encourages a very different perspective—one that shifts focus to present-day issues, preferably ones happening far away from home.

As the narrative crescendos, the commentator rallies for a future brimming with liberty. The call for exploration and adventure paints a picture of pioneers ready to conquer new frontiers, perhaps even the stars themselves. The inheritors of liberty, as they are dubbed, carry not only the heritage of freedom but also the amusing image of saddling up for the final frontiers with a God-given sword. It’s a heady mix of politics, religion, and a sprinkle of space travel, all wrapped up in a way that’s sure to keep both heads nodding and eyebrows raising.
