The Republican Party is at a crossroads once again, and this time it’s over tariffs. Some in the GOP want to crack down on China and protect American jobs, while others are getting cold feet. These so-called “moderates” seem more worried about making globalists happy than standing up for everyday Americans. That’s a big problem—because conservatives are tired of watching good jobs get shipped overseas while politicians twiddle their thumbs.
Right now, fewer than four out of ten voters think tariffs are actually good for the economy. And what about everyone else? Half of the country says tariffs don’t work. That means conservatives have their work cut out for them. Liberals and global elites have spent decades brainwashing Americans into believing that “free trade” is the only way forward. Every time American workers lose their jobs to cheap foreign labor, the left cheers. But when someone tries to protect our factories, suddenly it’s the end of the world.

Here’s the hard truth: America needs strong borders and strong trade barriers. That’s how we keep China from eating our lunch. When Republicans waver, they’re doing exactly what the left wants—giving up without a fight. It’s outrageous. When did the GOP become the party of Wall Street bankers instead of Main Street families?
Liberals love to talk about “fairness,” but they never want a fair deal for Americans. They’ll defend communist China before they defend our steelworkers. They scream about “racism” or “isolationism” instead of admitting that global trade deals are killing the American dream. Meanwhile, regular people are hurting. Wages are flat, jobs are scarce, and China keeps laughing all the way to the bank.
If Republicans don’t close this enthusiasm gap and get serious about tariffs, they’re going to lose their base—and maybe the country. America needs leaders with a backbone. Why should we keep bending over backwards for foreign interests and socialist elites? It’s time to put America first—and if that upsets a few global bureaucrats, so be it.
