A gunman attacked Border Patrol agents in McAllen, Texas this morning. He was shot dead after opening fire at a border facility. This marks another violent incident targeting our law enforcement officers at the border.
The shooter was 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda from Ludington, Michigan. He ambushed agents with rifles while they arrived for duty. Border Patrol heroes and McAllen police returned fire to stop the threat.
Mosqueda brought multiple rifles and extra ammunition to the scene. He fired dozens of rounds at our brave agents and their station. Thankfully, quick action by law enforcement neutralized this dangerous attacker.
Three officers were hurt in the attack. One McAllen police officer took a bullet to the knee. Two other officers suffered injuries from gunfire or shrapnel. All three are being treated at local hospitals.
The McAllen airport shut down temporarily for safety during this crisis. Thanks to our professional emergency teams, flights resumed quickly. This shows how well our communities respond to threats.
House Speaker Mike Johnson rightly connected this violence to Democrat rhetoric. When liberals constantly attack our police, it emboldens unstable individuals. This tragic event proves that words have real consequences.
Our border agents face daily dangers while protecting America. This planned ambush shows the urgent need for stronger border security. Weak policies invite violence against those who serve.
We must always stand with our law enforcement heroes. Patriots support the brave men and women who risk everything to keep us safe. It’s time to back the blue and secure our borders once and for all.
