Nancy Pelosi made millions trading stocks while serving in Congress. She had access to secret information that regular Americans never see. Now there’s a bill named after her that would ban lawmakers from getting rich off their insider knowledge.
The PELOSI Act just passed out of a Senate committee. It would stop members of Congress and their spouses from buying and selling individual stocks. They would have 180 days to sell everything they own.
Senator Josh Hawley from Missouri wrote this bill. He says politicians shouldn’t get rich using information the public can’t access. While families struggle to pay bills, lawmakers make fortunes in the stock market.
Here’s the problem though. Hawley joined with every single Democrat to pass this bill. He was the only Republican who voted yes. That’s exactly the kind of swamp behavior that drives conservatives crazy.
President Trump blasted Hawley on Truth Social for working with Democrats. Other Republican senators called the bill terrible and said it’s not ready. Senator Ron Johnson said it’s downright obnoxious.
The bill is supposed to apply to future presidents too. That means it wouldn’t affect Trump but would hit whoever comes after him. Trump said he likes the idea but doesn’t really know much about the details.
Nancy Pelosi actually supports the bill even though it’s named after her corruption. She pretends she never used insider information to make her millions. That’s laughable when you look at her perfect timing on tech stocks.
Republicans need to decide what matters more. Do we want to stop corrupt Democrats from getting rich off taxpayers? Or do we refuse to work with them even when they’re right? Sometimes doing the right thing means holding your nose and voting yes.
