New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is facing backlash after she decided to suspend gun rights in Albuquerque, the state’s largest city. This move, taken under the guise of a public health emergency, has drawn comparisons to California Governor Gavin “Hair Gel” Newsom’s abuse of power. Lujan Grisham seems to believe that her governmental powers extend beyond the Constitution, which is just absurd.

Even her own Sheriff, John Allen, is publicly questioning the legality and constitutionality of this order. He rightfully recognizes that this action challenges the foundation of our Constitution and undermines the rights of law-abiding citizens. Republican leaders in the state legislature have also called for immediate action, labeling the state’s crime rate as a public emergency. It’s clear that Lujan Grisham is more interested in targeting law-abiding citizens than addressing the real issue of criminal behavior.

This isn’t the first time Lujan Grisham has demonstrated a disregard for constitutional rights. As a COVID lockdown zealot, she pushed for strict restrictions on New Mexico’s population, despite the state maintaining one of the higher infection rates. It’s no surprise that she’s now using the narrative of a health emergency to justify her gun-grabbing agenda. This is just another page out of the Democrat playbook.
But Lujan Grisham doesn’t seem to care about the pushback she’s receiving. She’s willing to face threats of impeachment and lawsuits from her own party members. Even New Mexico’s first Hispanic woman governor, Republican Susana Martinez, has called her out on this issue. Martinez, who has a strong record on fighting crime, understands the importance of protecting the rights of law-abiding citizens.
It’s clear that Lujan Grisham sees this as an opportunity to further her own ambitions and make a name for herself on the national stage. But her naked ambition and disregard for constitutional rights will not go unnoticed by the people of New Mexico. Unlike Martinez, Lujan Grisham will not make it to a second term. New Mexicans deserve a governor who will prioritize their safety and uphold their constitutional rights.
