New York Democrats are at it again, trying to rig the system in their favor. Governor Kathy Hochul and her cronies want to change the state constitution so they can redraw voting maps whenever they feel like it. They claim it’s because Texas Republicans might do the same thing first.
Hochul is pushing hard to let politicians mess with district lines in the middle of the decade. Right now, New York’s constitution says you can only redraw maps every ten years after the census. But that doesn’t matter to power-hungry Democrats who want to grab more House seats any way they can.
Here’s the biggest joke of all – New York Democrats already pulled this exact trick. They got their liberal judges to order new maps drawn for the 2024 election and picked up four House seats. Rep. Mike Lawler called them out for being total hypocrites about the whole thing.
The difference is that Texas can legally redraw their maps if they want to. New York cannot do it under their own constitution. But Democrats don’t care about following their own rules when power is on the line.
This is really about one thing – keeping Republicans from taking back full control of Congress. Democrats know they’re losing support with regular Americans who are tired of their failed policies. So instead of fixing their mess, they want to cheat their way to victory.
Republican leaders like Rep. Nicole Malliotakis are fighting back hard against this power grab. They know that when politicians pick their own voters instead of voters picking politicians, democracy dies. Fair elections mean competitive races where politicians have to work for everyone, not just their base.
Democrats talk about protecting democracy while they attack it from every angle. They stack courts, change voting rules, and now want to redraw maps whenever it helps them win. This isn’t about fairness – it’s about keeping power at any cost.
Americans deserve better than this corrupt system. We need to stop Hochul and her allies from destroying fair elections in New York. Our republic depends on honest elections where every legal vote counts equally.
