ICE Agents Face Hostile Mobs, Uphold Law Under Siege

Our reporter spent a day riding with ICE in Minneapolis and came back with a clear-eyed picture most Americans aren’t being shown: hardworking federal agents doing dangerous, necessary work while being harassed and obstructed at nearly every turn. The Daily Wire’s on-the-ground account captures the chaos and the courage of officers who keep showing up despite the risks.

The unrest in the Twin Cities exploded after the tragic death of Renee Good, a protester who was reportedly struck and killed during an encounter with an ICE vehicle — an event that has only emboldened anti-ICE mobs and turned lawful enforcement into a political sideshow. No tragedy should make it acceptable for mobs to decide who lives under the rule of law; grief does not grant the moral license to shield criminal conduct.

Despite the hostility, ICE says it has continued its mission, arresting roughly ten thousand illegal immigrants in Minnesota — arrests that include individuals with drug convictions, assaults, and DUI convictions. Samuel Olsen, the St. Paul director, told reporters they’ve had to adapt to constant interference but will not be deterred. Conservatives should salute that resolve while demanding our leaders stop caving to performative outrage.

What the Daily Wire observed could be ripped from a movie: spotters, radios, whistles, protesters blowing a school bus driver’s horn, and activists deliberately blocking agents’ vehicles. At one point a driver in a Tesla reportedly struck an ICE car and later taunted officers by shouting, “I’m illegal, come and get me,” as the convoy was followed and harassed. This is not protest — it is organized obstruction that endangers both officers and the public.

The consequences are real and grim: assaults on ICE officers have reportedly surged by more than a thousand percent and death threats have skyrocketed, while local officials at times refuse to honor detainer requests and release dangerous individuals back into the community. Every time a city releases a detainee or lets agitators run interference, it erodes public safety and signals that law enforcement will be second-guessed for doing its job.

Americans who believe in law and order should be outraged, not indulgent. We must stop pretending that sanctuary posturing and virtue-signaling protests are equivalent to governance; they are policies that hamper federal enforcement and reward lawlessness. If you care about your neighborhood’s safety, back the agents who are enforcing our laws and stop applauding chaos.

It’s time to hold the mayors and county officials accountable who enable this behavior, and to insist that federal partners be allowed to do the jobs voters elected them to perform. Elect leaders who will secure the border, cooperate with federal enforcement, and put the safety of citizens above political theater.

We owe those ICE agents more than headlines and hashtags — we owe them our support and the political will to restore common-sense enforcement. Patriots should stand with the men and women who confront danger quietly and professionally so the rest of us can live in peace.
