IDF Approves Final Assault on Hamas Stronghold in Rafah Amid US Diplomatic Visit

In the Middle East mess, the tough folks in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have given the green light to go after the last Hamas hideout in Rafah, down in southern Gaza by Egypt, all while Secretary of State Antony Blinken is gearing up to pop by on Tuesday.

The IDF big shots, including the Chief of the General Staff and other commanders, chatted and gave the nod to push ahead with the plan, snubbing Uncle Sam’s advice to skip the Rafah ruckus and find some other way to oust Hamas from Gaza.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is already expecting an Israeli raid on Rafah any minute now unless Blinken swoops in to stop the IDF, but Yank officials are trying to hush the International Criminal Court’s fuss over Israeli actions in Gaza to keep their own troops safe down the line.

Across the waves, American navy ships are coasting off Gaza, setting up a floaty dock for aid, with Israeli soldiers on standby on land, while in the grand game of hostage chess, Israel might hold off on Rafah if Hamas frees some captives. Tricky business, considering Hamas’s shifty deal demands.

The Netanyahu crew had their eyes on a quick victory in Gaza, but Biden’s gang put a wrench in the plans, stretching what was supposed to be a quick clean-up into a lengthy waiting game that only made Hamas puff out its chest and puff up its demands.
