Ilhan Omar’s Anti-American Rhetoric Sparks Outrage Among Conservatives

Rob Finnerty didn’t mince words on Tuesday when he called Rep. Ilhan Omar’s remarks about the United States “appalling,” and he was right to do so. Omar used a congressional field hearing in St. Paul on January 16, 2026, to rail against federal immigration enforcement and even likened ICE tactics to those in her native Somalia, saying she never thought she’d see it happen in the “U.S. goddamn States.” Finnerty’s show cut through the usual media passivity and exposed what millions of Americans recognize as pure, corrosive anti-American rhetoric from someone sworn to defend the Constitution she signed up to serve.

What Omar framed as concern for constituents quickly revealed itself as a broader contempt for the institutions that protect this country. She condemned checkpoints, detentions, and the presence of federal agents in Minnesota, painting law enforcement as an occupying force rather than professionals doing dangerous work to keep communities safe. This isn’t principled dissent — it’s performative hostility that plays straight into the hands of the radical left and endangers officers who answer the call to enforce the law.

Conservative viewers have every reason to be outraged. For years Rep. Omar has trafficked in language that questions loyalty and stokes division, and now she’s publicly insulting the nation that welcomed her family and made her career possible. There is a moral and civic obligation for elected officials to be honest critics without tearing down the pillars of our republic; when a member of Congress resorts to slander and incendiary language, the American people deserve consequences, not applause from liberal media elites.

Beyond rhetoric, there are real-world costs when a sitting congresswoman demonizes federal agents and their mission. Federal officers are being deployed to restore order and investigate fraud, and casting them as villains only emboldens lawbreakers and increases risk to hardworking men and women in uniform. Responsible leaders support accountability, not lawlessness; criticizing enforcement policy is legitimate, but dehumanizing those who put their lives on the line crosses a line into reckless irresponsibility.

The double standard is galling: when conservatives express frustration it’s “dangerous rhetoric,” yet when radical Democrats call the country names it’s treated as nuance or excused as passion. Americans are tired of elites who lecture patriotism while excusing attacks on it from their own side. Republicans in Congress should demand an ethics review, and House leadership must at least consider censure for language that so clearly undermines the oath every member takes to “support and defend” the United States.

Rob Finnerty and fellow conservatives are doing the work the mainstream press won’t: holding public officials to the standards they pretend to value. Patriots should rally behind vigorous, principled scrutiny — not for revenge, but to protect the rule of law and the honor of our institutions. If we allow elected representatives to trash America with impunity, we betray everything our forebears fought and bled to build.

Every American who loves this country should be alarmed when an elected official treats the United States as an object of contempt. Speak up, call your representatives, and demand accountability; standing for law and order, for respect for service, and for American exceptionalism is not partisan, it is patriotic. We must defend the nation from those who would undermine it from inside the halls of power.
