Inflation Crisis Looms Over Biden as Trump Leads in Polls

In a recent analysis, Tiana Lowe Doescher, a Washington Examiner commentator, pointed to the impact of inflation on voters and polls leading up to the 2024 election, referring to it as “the hidden tax” in the United States.

Lowe Doescher highlighted new polling data that shows President Joe Biden trailing former President Donald Trump, the presumed Republican Party nominee, in several battleground states, including Nevada. Trump holds a significant lead in Nevada among registered and likely voters.

She also emphasized the impact of inflation on the American people, noting that under Trump, annual inflation remained below 2% throughout his presidency, whereas there has been a 19% increase in prices since Biden took office. Lowe Doescher criticized Biden’s handling of inflation, stating that he has failed to effectively address the issue.

Regarding younger voters, Lowe Doescher argued that Biden is not enacting policies to assist them in combating rising inflation, suggesting that his approach may be perceived as belittling this important voting bloc. Recent polling data indicated a slight preference for Trump among voters between 18 and 29 years old.

Lowe Doescher also criticized the Biden administration’s plan to impose tariffs on electric vehicles from China, asserting that there is minimal demand for electric vehicles in the United States, especially those manufactured in China.

Additionally, a separate poll identified the economy, inflation, and safety from crime as the most important topics for voters. Recipients of the poll expressed greater trust in Trump than Biden to address these crucial issues.

These findings underscore the potential influence of economic factors, such as inflation and the overall state of the economy, on voters’ preferences leading up to the 2024 election.
