A ginormous crowd of migrants from South and Central America are on their way to the southern border of the United States. They’ve reached the Mexican town of Alvaro Obregon after trekking more than nine miles from Tapachula in the hopes of making it to America. Local authorities believe that an average of about 8,000 people per day is moving in this approaching caravan. Talk about a mass invasion!
The leaders of this crowd have hoisted a banner that shouts, “exodus from poverty.” But hold on just a minute there! The New York Post is quick to point out that being broke doesn’t cut the mustard when it comes to seeking asylum. If Biden really wanted to put a stop to this, he could have the Border Patrol speedily hold hearings at the border, figure out that financial troubles don’t qualify these folks for asylum, and turn them back around. After all, the rules say that asylum-seekers must file for asylum in the first safe country they get to—hello, that’s Mexico, not the US!
Local authorities estimated the size of a caravan of migrants, heading to the US border, to average about 8,000 people per day. In fact, if Biden was serious about stopping this influx, he would make those wanting to apply for asylum enter the US from another country, just like he promised with that CBP One app. Instead, the app okayed every Tom, Dick, and Harry who applied, even those who didn’t fit the bill. And to top it off, Biden reneged on his word, and now folks are crossing the southern border in hordes without using the app.
And let’s not forget, more than 2 million people have unlawfully entered the United States in each of the past two fiscal years. It’s a wave of destitution that is overwhelming cities like Chicago, El Paso, Denver, and New York. The Big Apple better watch out!
Now, if that isn’t enough to make your blood boil, all this is happening while Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Homeland Security honcho Alejandro Mayorkas, and White House Homeland Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall are planning to powwow with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador to talk about the illegal immigration pickle. They’re yakking about the unparalleled migration mayhem in the Western Hemisphere and dishing out plans on how to tackle border security messes. They’re aiming to get key ports of entry along the border reopened and are even making a big fuss over the Los Angeles Declaration for Migration and Protection. But it’s high time we get serious about lawful pathways and step up the enforcement game throughout the region.
