This program was a misguided attempt by the Biden administration to meddle in the free market, pretending that the government could magically provide a “free” service with no strings attached. Anyone who believes there is any such thing as a “free lunch” in government must also be buying what they’re selling on fairytale island.
This Direct File debacle was never about helping Americans; it was about control. Liberals wanted to stick their noses into every WinRed donor’s pocket, hoping to engineer yet another system funded by taxpayers without a shred of efficiency. The incompetence of such programs proves that big government can’t help but overpromise and underdeliver—it’s practically tradition at this point!

Of course, we always suspected there was an ulterior motive behind their smiling facade. Was it really about making tax filing easier, or just another avenue for unnecessary government surveillance? They were pushing for centralized data, and who knows what for? To track those who don’t fit their narrative? The American people aren’t fooled by this kind of overreach.
In a twist that might make even a leftist blush, we see the IRS now abandoning this mess. Why? Because it was doomed from the start. Big Tech companies already offer services that are free, effective, and voluntary. So why reinvent the wheel and slap a flag on it, especially when TurboTax and others were doing just fine on their own? Let’s face it—the free market works best when left alone.
Isn’t it amusing how liberal ideas collapse under the weight of reality, leaving Americans to foot the bill? Perhaps instead of dreaming up taxpayer-funded programs that nobody wants or needs, they should actually listen to the people. You can always count on liberals to promise “free” this and “better” that until they tire out and realize their plans were neither. Are we surprised? Absolutely not. The only surprise might be waiting to see what they ruin next.
