Five innocent people were murdered in cold blood Monday morning in Jerusalem. Palestinian terrorists opened fire on helpless civilians waiting at a bus stop. This was not a military target or government building. These were ordinary people just trying to go about their daily lives.
The attack happened at Ramot Junction in north Jerusalem around late morning. Israeli emergency services say five people died and about fifteen others were wounded. Two of the terrorist gunmen were also killed by Israeli security forces. The victims included men in their thirties and fifties who did nothing wrong except exist.
Hamas, the terrorist group that has been waging war against Israel for nearly two years, immediately celebrated this massacre. They praised the killers and called them heroes. This shows the true face of Hamas and what they really want. They do not want peace or a two-state solution.
Hamas claimed this attack was a response to Israeli actions in Gaza. That is complete nonsense and evil propaganda. Nothing justifies gunning down innocent civilians at a bus stop. No grievance gives terrorists the right to murder families and workers. This is pure evil dressed up as resistance.
This attack proves that Israel faces constant threats from people who want to wipe them off the map. While Americans worry about gas prices and grocery bills, Israelis worry about getting shot while waiting for the bus. Every day brings new dangers from terrorists who hate Jewish people simply for existing. The threat is real and it never stops.
Israel has every right to defend itself against these savage attacks. Prime Minister Netanyahu is already meeting with security officials to respond. Israel must do whatever it takes to protect its citizens from more terrorist murders. The world should support Israel’s right to fight back against those who target innocent people.
The international community must condemn this attack without any conditions or excuses. Too often, world leaders make weak statements that blame both sides equally. There are not two sides when terrorists murder innocent civilians. There is only right and wrong, good and evil.
America must stand firmly with Israel during these dark times. Our ally faces enemies who celebrate death and murder children. We cannot let political correctness stop us from calling terrorism what it is. Israel deserves our complete support in fighting the monsters who commit these awful crimes.
