Rep. Jim Jordan is rightly questioning why President Biden is considering preemptive pardons for former Rep. Liz Cheney and Dr. Anthony Fauci, among others. The premise behind these pardons is laughable, especially given how Biden’s crew has spent years painting Republican requests for pardons as the ultimate moral sin. Hypocrisy, it seems, knows no bounds in the Biden administration, which is now playing the same game it once criticized.
Cheney, the poster child for turncoats, co-chaired the Jan. 6 select committee—a group more interested in political theater than justice. Her infamous vote to impeach President Trump not only alienated many in her own party but also earned her a place as a campaign surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris. In a move reminiscent of a family betrayal, she even declared that she and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, would support Harris. This begs the question: should those who aided and abetted the witch hunt against Trump now be granted a free pass via a pardon? It’s a sore point for many who see this as nothing more than a cynical move to rewrite history in favor of a disgraced politician.
Jordan noted that the Jan. 6 committee’s proceedings were uniquely one-sided, devoid of any real opportunity for Republicans to challenge the narrative. This glaring lack of cross-examination led to a circus of unfounded allegations and outright fabrications. The committee has become infamous for pushing narratives that, upon closer inspection, crumble like a house of cards. It’s a perfect example of why Americans should approach this potential pardon with skepticism. After all, if the committee’s findings could be so easily manipulated, what does it say about those who stand to benefit from a preemptive pardon?

As for Dr. Fauci, the man whose guidance during the pandemic left many scratching their heads, Jordan points out that all the proclamations made under his watch seem to have been wrong. Whether it was masking mandates or social distancing protocols, the fallout of Fauci’s directives leaves a bitter taste for those who followed his guidance. Jordan insists that any future decisions regarding Fauci should fall on a Trump-led Justice Department, which promises a closer examination of Fauci’s pandemic performance and the questionable claims that have become his hallmark.
Biden’s penchant for considering pardons for these controversial figures raises eyebrows, particularly when he hints at a desire for harmony with Trump. It’s hard to ignore the fact that Biden’s idea of reconciliation involves rewarding those who have challenged and undermined conservative ideals. The joke, as Jordan would likely say, is on the American people, who are left to wonder whether this administration will ever prioritize accountability over political maneuvering. Perhaps the final joke is on Biden himself, as he seeks to navigate through this political minefield of his own making.
