On a recent episode of “The View,” liberal talking head Joy Behar showed her support for minors undergoing life-changing sex changes. In a conversation with Elliot Page, who now identifies as male, Behar even went so far as to criticize Republicans for passing bills that protect children from such irreversible procedures under the guise of “gender-affirming care.”

Page bemoaned the “anti-trans rhetoric, lies, misinformation” that supposedly permeates our society today, to which Behar responded by asking why Republicans continue to introduce bills that stop transgender youth from receiving gender-affirming health care. In an attempt to downplay the importance of these bills, Behar also dismissed the transgender population’s size, saying, “It’s not like they’re 80% of the population.”
Page ascribed the Republican efforts to “a political tool to gain votes” that’s meant to distract people from what he called the “real issues” plaguing our society. However, he failed to identify exactly what these supposed issues are.
It’s important to note that Page identified as a lesbian for six years before announcing in 2020 that he had started the process of becoming transgender. He later underwent gender-affirming surgery.
Behar’s support for minors undergoing such procedures without their parents’ consent is alarming. The government should not be in the business of making decisions that impact children’s bodies and lives in such a significant way. This is a prime example of liberal activists like Behar putting their political ideology ahead of the well-being of America’s children.
