Judge Mary Rosado has temporarily blocked New York City Mayor Eric Adams from allowing ICE back onto Rikers Island. The rationale? Some half-baked accusation that Mayor Adams struck a deal with former President Trump while conveniently ignoring the violent gang members who roam free. The priorities are clear – protect criminals, not law-abiding citizens.
This all stems from the City Council’s baseless lawsuit against Adams. They claim he made a shady deal with Trump to bring ICE onto Rikers in return for personal favors. Really? It’s baffling how a group of politicians can focus on fantasy plots rather than the real danger posed by violent gangs in their own city. Is it a crime to prioritize the deportation of criminals who threaten the lives of American citizens?

Despite Adams’ assurances that ICE’s presence is solely to deport dangerous criminals, the City Council cries about Trump’s so-called “mass deportation agenda.” They seem more concerned with virtue signaling to their progressive base than keeping their constituents safe. These politicians are willing to risk the safety of Americans to satisfy their anti-Trump obsession.
Meanwhile, the NYC Comptroller applauds this decision, calling the mayor’s exec order “lawless.” Since when did making cities safer become synonymous with lawlessness? This is the sort of twisted logic that only those deep in the echo chamber of the left could comprehend. It seems they prefer to stand idly by while MS-13 members wreak havoc across America’s streets.
With Friday’s hearing looming, this drama underscores the dysfunction of liberal governance in New York. Instead of addressing rampant crime, Democrat officials are busy tying themselves in knots to fight every federal effort to protect citizens. It begs the question: when will the rights of American citizens supersede the misplaced sympathies of the political elites?
