In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, Arizona's Republican gubernatorial hopeful Kari Lake said she would work to safeguard students from being exposed to Critical Race Theory (CRT) and cross-gender coursework if elected.
On Wednesday, after conducting a news conference outside Arizona PBS at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, Lake sat down with Breitbart News at the Arizona Biltmore Resort. Breitbart News questioned Lake about the steps she intends to do to oppose the extreme CRT and gender curriculums that are being instilled in young people.
It's terribly unfortunate that we'd have to draft legislation to make sure that our schools don't encourage our children to be racist and don't try to transform our boys into girls and our girls into boys… but if we had to, we will, added Lake. But it's also true that we'll if we have to. I want to ensure that our children, when they go to school, they are not getting their brains flooded with psychological torture, because that is how it is, to be honest, she said. I would like to make sure that we are not sending our children off to school.
Our children do not see colors. Because of the way I brought up my kids, they have no concept of race. My little daughter was aware of her femininity, just as my little son was aware of his masculinity. Lake went on to emphasize the impressionability, naivete, and openness of youngsters and how little their school has ever done to protect them from being misled.
You can convince our children that Santa Claus flies over the world; it's a great thing, but it demonstrates what our children are like: they'll believe anything. It's sad that our schools are influencing impressionable young minds to the point that they consider undergoing cosmetic surgery to alter their identities. It ought to be against the law.
With the help of the legislature, I will do all in my power to ensure that our kids are safe from harm in these areas. We want our children to attend school because we don't want them to become less intelligent but rather more intelligent, stated Lake. We don't want them to come in with their heads on straight, only to come out befuddled. And we insist that our schools provide an education for our children.
Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESAs), made possible by a law signed by outgoing Arizona governor Doug Ducey (R) in July, are another tool to safeguard students.
We already have a pretty excellent policy with ESA for all, Lake said. I'm really excited about it. In that case, parents might simply tell the institution, We are not sending our children to the school; we are going over here. And that institution is either going to close its doors or make some significant changes to how it operates.
She elaborated, I think ESA for everyone, which, people are calling them vouchers, but it's ESA for all, is the way to encourage our institutions, our public schools, to alter course and enhance the curriculum, or they will not survive. It's the most efficient approach to get them to enhance the educational program. Parents are no longer going to comply with such nonsense and will no longer tolerate it. This awakened curriculum has to go because it's putting students in harm's way. And I will do all in my power to put a stop to it in our educational institutions.
