Karl Rove, a former advisor to President George W. Bush, was chatting on Fox News Channel’s “America Reports” about President Joe Biden and his sudden change of heart about debating former President Donald Trump. Rove hinted that Biden’s numbers are looking a bit “bad,” and he had to agree to a debate to save face.
Rove seemed pretty smug, not at all surprised that debates were back on the table. He teased about Biden waking up to the realization that avoiding debates was making him look weak. Rove suggested that if the debates didn’t happen, the American public would blame whoever was responsible. And who wants that kind of bad press affecting their poll numbers, right?

The way Rove tells it, Biden is already struggling with his approval ratings, so he probably figured he better step up and act all eager to debate. Rove predicted that it’s going to be a wild showdown between the two candidates – a blast from the past back to the 1960s style of debates. Imagine a studio, a serious moderator, a couple of reporters, some bigwigs, and the crew running the show, all without a rowdy audience to stir up unnecessary drama.
In Rove’s opinion, the American people are itching to see Trump and Biden face off. He’s all for going back to the basics of a civil conversation without the distraction of a raucous audience. Rove even mentioned his recent column in The Wall Street Journal where he championed the idea of a debate format that focuses on substance instead of showmanship. It seems he believes that toning down the theatrics can lead to a more productive discussion between the candidates and the moderators.
It looks like Rove is all in for a no-frills debate and hopes that the serious exchange of ideas won’t get lost in the chaos of a lively audience. So, get ready for a blast from the past when Trump and Biden finally face off – it’s bound to be a showdown worth watching!
