Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown’s husband, Patrick Jackson, was found to be the descendant of slave owners, according to a report by the far left Washington Post. While Justice Brown’s ancestors were enslaved, her husband’s lineage includes a king of England, a signer of the Constitution, and passengers on the Mayflower. However, one ancestor, Peter Chardon Brooks, made his fortune insuring ships, some of which were involved in the slave trade. On his mother’s side, Jackson’s ancestors owned almost 200 slaves in the decade before 1860.

given US history, millions of Blacks descended from slaves are likely descendants of slaveholders.— TreadNot (@TexEx4170) June 21, 2023
Despite this revelation, Justice Brown was chosen by President Biden to fulfill his pledge of choosing a black woman for the Supreme Court. In a speech on the White House lawn, she described herself as “the dream and hope of the slave.” Ironically, Justice Brown and her “Boston Brahmin” husband make an “unlikely pair”, but they have acknowledged that their love for one another is all that matters.
It is strikingly improbable that two people, with their respective lineages, would come together. The idea of slavery as America’s original sin has gained traction recently, with liberals pushing for reparations. However, individuals such as Justice Brown and her husband cannot rewrite history. It is what it is, and they have chosen to move forward with love and respect for one another despite their vastly different family histories.
