Leavitt Reveals Alarming Crime Stats Plaguing Chicago Today

In recent news, an interesting debate has emerged around the Windy City, Chicago. The Governor of Illinois, JB Pritzker, has been busy declaring that everything is just peachy in Chicago. According to him, crime isn’t an issue, and he certainly doesn’t need any help from President Trump. However, residents of Chicago and the statistics tell a very different story—one that paints a grim picture beneath the sunny claims of their governor.

Let’s start with some eye-opening statistics. For an astonishing 13 years in a row, Chicago has been crowned the murder capital of the United States. Yes, you read that right—13 consecutive years! That’s quite the record, but it’s surely not one that any city would want to boast about. In fact, it gets even more alarming. Chicago has held the highest murder rate among major U.S. cities, with populations exceeding a million, for the past seven years. If you thought things couldn’t get worse, think again. Just last year, Chicago’s murder rate per capita was three times higher than the rate in Los Angeles and nearly five times higher than that in New York City. To put that into perspective, the murder rate in Chicago is more than double that of Islamabad, and almost 15 times more than in Delhi. Sounds like a scene from a horror movie, doesn’t it?

But wait, there’s more. Since January 1st of this year, Chicago has reported a staggering 147,899 crimes. Out of these, only 16% led to arrests. Yes, you read that right—just a tiny fraction of crimes are being solved. This reveals a serious issue with law enforcement efficiency in the city. The residents of Chicago are living in a precarious environment, with crime climbing to unprecedented heights while the governor remains seemingly oblivious.

To add fuel to the fire, Chicago has recovered more illegal guns than New York City and Los Angeles combined—now that’s a staggering statistic! Motor vehicle thefts have also skyrocketed, with last year’s numbers more than double what they were in 2021. It seems that rather than feeling safe, residents might feel like they need to keep a watchful eye on their vehicles every time they step outside.

Despite this rough data, Governor Pritzker continues to appear on television, confidently saying that everything is fine in Chicago—almost like he’s living in a parallel universe. As crime statistics surge and public concern mounts, one cannot help but wonder why Pritzker hasn’t considered reaching out to President Trump, a leader who may actually take the plight of law-abiding Chicagoans seriously. It’s time for the governor to come down from his lofty rhetoric and confront the truth of Chicago’s dire situation. After all, the residents of the city deserve better than to have their safety ignored in favor of political posturing.
