Liberal Judge Blocks Trump on Migrant Family Reunification

A liberal federal judge just dealt another blow to President Trump’s efforts to secure our border and reunite migrant children with their families. Judge Sparkle Sooknanan blocked the deportation of hundreds of Guatemalan children who were already sitting on planes ready to fly home to their parents. This is exactly the kind of judicial activism that puts politics ahead of common sense.

These unaccompanied minors had already told officials that their parents were waiting for them back in Guatemala. The Trump administration was simply trying to reunite families and get these children back to where they belong. Instead of supporting family reunification, this Democrat-appointed judge decided to play politics with children’s lives.

The whole situation shows how broken our immigration system really is. Children were pulled off planes at the last minute because liberal lawyers filed emergency lawsuits in the middle of the night. One plane had even taken off but was forced to turn around and come back because of this judge’s order.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller called out the judge’s ridiculous decision on social media. He pointed out that these children want to go home to their parents in Guatemala. But apparently this liberal judge thinks she knows better than the families themselves about what’s best for these kids.

Immigration advocacy groups are celebrating this as some kind of victory for children’s rights. The reality is they’re keeping kids separated from their families for purely political reasons. They would rather use these children as pawns in their fight against Trump than let them go home where they belong.

This is what happens when activist judges think they can run immigration policy from the bench. President Trump won a mandate from the American people to secure our borders and enforce immigration law. Yet liberal judges keep blocking his every move with last-minute court orders and legal tricks.

The temporary restraining order lasts for 14 days, giving these advocacy groups more time to file additional lawsuits and appeals. Meanwhile, children who could be home with their parents are stuck in government shelters because of liberal politics. This is not compassion – this is cruelty disguised as activism.

American taxpayers are footing the bill to house and care for these children while their own parents wait for them in Guatemala. We need judges who will support the law and help reunite families, not create more bureaucratic obstacles. This ruling shows exactly why we need more conservative judges who understand their proper role in our system of government.
