Another innocent American is dead because our justice system has failed us completely. Iryna Zarutska came to America as a Ukrainian refugee seeking safety and freedom. Instead, she was brutally murdered by a career criminal who should have been locked up years ago.
Decarlos Brown Jr. stabbed this 23-year-old woman to death on a Charlotte light rail train in August. He attacked her from behind without warning while she sat peacefully on her way home. The surveillance video shows just how cold and calculated this monster really is.
This killer had 14 prior arrests on his record. He was convicted of robbery with a dangerous weapon, breaking and entering, and assault. Yet somehow he was walking free to murder an innocent young woman who came here seeking the American dream.
The liberal prosecutors and judges who kept releasing this predator have blood on their hands. Their soft-on-crime policies put dangerous criminals back on the streets to terrorize law-abiding citizens. When will enough be enough for these bleeding heart politicians who care more about criminals than victims.
Attorney General Pamela Bondi is finally taking action by bringing federal charges against Brown. She called this murder the direct result of failed policies that put criminals before innocent people. At least someone in Washington understands that justice means protecting good people from evil ones.
Iryna fled war in Ukraine only to be killed by the very violence she escaped. She deserved to live safely in America like every other person who follows our laws. Instead she became another victim of our broken criminal justice system that refuses to keep dangerous people locked up.
This tragedy shows why we need tough law and order policies that actually work. We must stop coddling repeat offenders and start protecting innocent Americans. Every judge and prosecutor who enabled this killer should be held accountable for this preventable murder.
The good people of Charlotte and America deserve better than this. We need leaders who will stand up to the criminal lobby and fight for victims instead of predators. Iryna Zarutska should still be alive today if our system actually worked to protect the innocent.
