Five years ago, America watched in horror as George Floyd died under Derek Chauvin’s knee in Minneapolis. What happened next was predictable liberal overreach that has made our communities less safe. Progressive politicians rushed to defund police and embrace radical “restorative justice” policies that put criminals first.
The results speak for themselves and they are devastating. New research shows that 72 percent of Americans now admit the focus on racial inequality after Floyd’s death did nothing to help Black communities. Even Democrats are finally waking up to this harsh reality.
Police shootings have actually increased every year since 2017, including after all those Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. The highest numbers on record happened in 2024 while liberal cities were busy cutting police budgets. This is what happens when you listen to activists instead of law enforcement professionals.
Support for Black Lives Matter has crashed from 67 percent to just 52 percent as regular Americans see the chaos these policies created. Hardworking families watched their neighborhoods become more dangerous while politicians virtue signaled about “systemic racism.” They’ve had enough of the lies and failed experiments.
The billions of dollars wasted on feel-good programs could have gone to real solutions like job training and education. Instead, we got diversity consultants and social workers replacing cops on our streets. Crime skyrocketed while politicians patted themselves on the back for being “progressive.”
Conservative voices warned from the beginning that defunding police would backfire on the very communities liberals claimed to help. We were called racists for supporting law and order. Now the data proves we were right all along.
The Charlotte murder and countless other transit crimes show what happens when you prioritize criminals over victims. Public transportation has become a nightmare because bleeding hearts refuse to lock up repeat offenders. Working Americans deserve better than this failed social experiment.
It’s time to restore common sense to our justice system and put public safety first. We need more police officers, not fewer, and judges who actually send criminals to prison. The George Floyd moment was hijacked by radicals who made everything worse for everyone.
