Liberty Requires Courage: Israel Strikes Back Against Iran’s Threats

Israel’s right to defend itself against Iran’s decade-long campaign of proxies and terror is not optional — it is existential. After years of watching Tehran bankroll Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis, Israel answered predictable attacks with decisive force, refusing to be the only civilization that forgives terrorism while it bleeds. The world’s defenders of “balance” should stop pretending that moral equivalence protects anyone.

When the United States and Israel coordinated strikes in late February under the operational names the Pentagon called Epic Fury and the IDF called Roaring Lion, they did so to blunt an immediate and growing threat to their homelands. This was not a reckless lunge but a targeted campaign to degrade the missile, drone, and command networks Iran has spent years building to threaten cities from Tehran to Tel Aviv. America standing shoulder-to-shoulder with a stalwart ally sent a message the appeasers back home dared not.

Some critics squeal about “escalation” while ignoring who started the escalation by exporting terror across borders for decades. Iran’s use of commercial ports and energy infrastructure to fund proxies, and the subsequent strikes on facilities tied to military use, show the calculus of modern warfare: disrupt the logistics that fuel terror. Those disruptions rattled markets and political elites abroad, but they also struck at the practical heartbeat of Iran’s war machine.

Across northern Israel and southern theaters, Hezbollah and Houthi assaults proved the regional depth of Tehran’s malign reach, launching rockets and drones at civilian areas and shipping lanes alike. Israel’s counterstrikes in Lebanon and elsewhere are unpleasant but necessary; when you face enemies who deliberately place their arsenals inside civilian areas, the alternative is endless vulnerability. Western leaders who wring their hands over collateral damage while ignoring the architects of the violence are, at best, naïve and at worst complicit.

We should also be frank about who understood the stakes: patriotic leadership in Washington and Jerusalem recognized that delay would invite catastrophe. The combined employment of long-range cruise missiles, precision munitions, and unmanned systems showed planning and resolve — the tools of modern deterrence used to protect innocent lives and to break the back of proxy networks. Conservatives who believe in peace through strength see this as exactly the kind of muscular, moral policy our nation should embrace.

Patriotic Americans must resist the chorus of defeatists who call for immediate capitulation or endless negotiations with a regime that rewards terror. This moment demands clarity: defend allies, punish aggressors, and strengthen our own homeland defenses so the next generation can sleep without sirens. Let the bureaucrats and the virtue-signalers explain why standing down is brave; hardworking Americans know the truth — liberty demands courage, and courage demands victory.
