North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson took the stage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Monday evening, armed with solid conservative values that resonated with the party faithful. Anyone looking for fireworks will just have to make do with the refreshing honesty Robinson brings to the table.
Robinson touted the party’s presidential nominee as the warrior-heart the country desperately needs. He touched on his own hardscrabble upbringing with a less-than-stellar father figure. He shared an anecdote from a gas station where he met a man on the brink of financial ruin, illustrating Americans' everyday struggles. Echoing the night’s theme, “Make America Wealthy Again,” Robinson didn’t pull any punches when he declared that under President Trump, the American Dream was not only alive but thriving—a stark contrast to the Biden Administration’s economic dismantling.

Taking to the stage for just over three minutes, Robinson painted Trump as the key to reclaiming prosperity, urging the nation to rally behind Trump this November to restore hope and make America great again. He reminded voters of his rise from making waves at a Greensboro City Council meeting to becoming the state’s lieutenant governor, underlined by the powerhouse speeches that have become his trademark.
At the Lake Church in southeastern North Carolina’s White Lake, Robinson delivered an emotional 30-minute speech, trotting out stories of his family and solemnly remembering Americans who sacrificed their lives in World War II. He didn’t shy away from naming the threats faced, including the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and those notorious Nazis, to highlight America’s enduring fight for democracy.
Robinson has been facing attacks for comments taken out of context but remains undeterred. When critics cherry-picked one phrase to twist its meaning, Robinson labelled it as a prime example of liberal dishonesty. Even after a failed assassination attempt on Trump in Pennsylvania, Democrats continue to paint him as an extremist. But Robinson isn’t biting; instead, he stands firm in his convictions.
Robinson’s heart-wrenching meeting with a man facing bankruptcy brought back memories of his own struggles with financial insecurity. With Biden’s administration driving up grocery prices and skyrocketing gas costs, Robinson brought home the point that many American families are grappling with similar fears today. Factories are shuttering, leaving families in despair, but Robinson asserts there is hope.
With faith and hard work, Robinson and his wife weathered their troubles, and now he stands on the brink of history as North Carolina’s first Black governor. He promises never to forget his struggles or the people he meets along the way. Above all, he assures that President Donald J. Trump will fight just as hard for Americans to bring back prosperity and the real American Dream.
